A Day in the Life - Sep 27 2009 - BOSTON Edition

We awoke at 7.30 to a grey, dreary day.

But a little rain doesn't stop little girl adventurers! We tiptoed around the hotel room so as to not awaken Paul and Leah - and quietly stole out of the room...

After a quick stop at the closest Starbucks for tea and chocolate milk, we popped into our taxi down to the Prudential Center duck boat pick-up.

Asking a 3-year old to wake up early just to sit in line for half an hour is not one of my better ideas, but passed the time by playing "I spy".

Once our tour guide arrived and started the pre-boarding pep talk, all was well.

We were first in line and had our choice of seats and a large open window (most were closed due to the rain).

Our duck boat was packed with a lively bunch of Aussies, who were just as rambunctious as the children, all were merrily shouting "Quack!" at passers-by.

Of course, the most exciting part of a duck tour is when the "bus" drives into the river - a big "Wow!" moment!

But we also enjoyed the guided tour, with the girls pointing and shouting "Look Aunt Kathryn! That's where we went yesterday!"

(Classic tourist nonsense - a view of our duck boat reflected in the Hancock Building)

After the tour, we had time to kill and so the girls indulged in pizza and ice cream for late breakfast.

We them popped up to the Observation Deck at the Prudential Center. Lovely views and nice exhibits, but in my opinion not worth the price for small children.

With still more time to kill before Paul and Leah were collecting us, we decided to brave the drizzle and walk back down Boylston - stopping at the Public Library for a few photos - and then crossing the road to to chase pigeons from Copley Square. I doubt there is a bird in Boston who has not been chased this weekend!
