Book Review: MOMAHOLIC: Confessions of a Helicopter Parent, by Dena Higley

While I was waiting for my review copy of MOMAHOLIC: Confessions of a Helicopter Parent to arrive, I broached the topic with my own mom and a few friends. Wow! The responses were fast, and quite amusing - without fail, each mom denied any sort of hovering, while accusing all the other moms they know of being complete helicopters. I know I've done my share of hovering, so I was intrigued to read...and the book did not disappoint.

Higley is frank, funny, often brutally honest, and had me laughing thru the tears as I read of the ups and downs of raising a beautiful, and not perfect, family. I found myself sympathizing even when I disagreed with her. I found myself nodding in recognition, "yes...I've done that..." And while Higley doesn't claim to have all the answers, she does inspire the right questions!

A fun and enlightening read, I recommend it to all the loving moms (with or without wings) I know. And be prepared for the raised eyebrows and the defensive "oh, I never hover!" responses when people see the title!
